Stocks
I feel that McMillan’s fiberglass stocks are the best choice for most applications. McMillan’s stocks are made using a combination of epoxy impregnated, high-pressure laminated cloths and chopped glass strands. They are then very precisely inletted using computer numerical control milling machines. Few other makers match their quality of construction. None surpasses it. They make a wide variety of stocks and colors to choose from. If you like a particular stock then, most likely, McMillan makes a copy of it. There are quite a few different camo colors and solid colors to choose from. I also offer several different customized paint schemes.
We also use stocks made by HiTech Specialties. This is a nice lightweight stock of superior construction. We use it quite often to make lighter weight rifles. These stocks must be painted. There is only one real drawback with these stocks. They only make one basic stock style. It comes either with or without cheek-piece. This is the stock that we use on our new VHT rifle.
One thing that I should point out is the delivery time on McMillan stocks. Due to the fact that they are one of the best stocks made, McMillan stocks take a very long time to get. They can and often do take up to five months to get. They are however, worth the wait.
We have also been using more and more laminated stocks. I feel that they are a wonderful alternative to fiberglass and are quite attractive. There is a myriad of colors and styles to choose from. We do charge extra for the use of a laminated stock on one of our custom rifles and each one must be priced on an individual basis.
