Dear Friend, We appreciate your interest in our rifles and hope to be able to build you the rifle of your dreams. I began building rifles twenty –one years ago at Jarrett Rifles and was the shop manager there during it’s rise to the top of the rifle building world. With twenty –one years of experience building custom rifles, I feel that I can offer the utmost in a super-accurate, reliable hunting rifle - a rifle that will meet the needs of any serious big game or varmint hunter. Like everyone else in this business, I have some very definite opinions on what it takes to build a rifle. I have the unique perspective of having built hundreds of rifles, and having shot a good many of the ones that I built. Having said that let me explain a little bit of my philosophy that sets me apart from some of the other custom rifle builders. I feel that when you come to me with a custom rifle project, my first job is to tell you my opinion of the best way to accomplish your goals. Then I am going to listen to your opinion and, within reason, give you what you want. I won’t compromise safety or dependability, but almost anything else goes. When I build you a rifle, you are the boss, and you have the final say. In the following pages I am going to share with you some of my opinions and some of our operating procedures. Please feel free to call us if we can be of any service or if we can clarify any thing for you. Thank You, John F. Lewis
We turn out quality work and because of that we have a heavy work load all of the time. At any given time we have at least 100 different projects that we are working on. Our number one goal is to provide the utmost in quality workmanship. This kind of workmanship cannot and will not be rushed. If quality work is what you want then we can accommodate you. If you want it fast, then we can’t help you. Availability of components and the delivery time from our suppliers also greatly affects turn-around time. When we give you a turn-around time, please be aware that this is an estimate based on our workload at that time. We make no promises or guarantees on delivery time. The only exception to this is our VHT rifle, which has a guaranteed eight-week delivery time. (See our detailed description of the VHT). (return to top)
Despite what many shipping places will tell you, it is legal for you to ship your gun by UPS to a gunsmith for alterations or repair. However, the rifle must be shipped from a UPS office. You may also ship long guns through the Post Office. The finished gun can then be shipped directly back to you. The rifle should be shipped to us in a hard case. Please know that we will not ship your rifle in a box. If you send it in a box, you will be charged $25.00 for a shipping case. Please be sure to include a detailed note with your name, address, phone numbers, and clear, complete instructions covering all work to be done. Please be sure of what you want when you ship your rifle. All changes must be requested in writing. (return to top)
We require at least 1/2 payment up front before any work is done. All accurizing jobs must be paid in full in advance. We give a $100.00 advance payment discount for pre-payment in full on custom rifles, with the exception of the VHT. We will ship your gun immediately upon completion if it was paid in full or if final payment was made by certified check or money order. If final payment is made by personal check then shipment will be delayed by two weeks so that the check has time to clear. We do accept MasterCard and Visa. Many people will pay 1/2 up front and then make payments along on the balance. This method is fine with us if you choose it. (return to top)
